with a Japanese furniture builder at the Cherry
Blossom Festival in
DC and he recommended using sweet rice flour mixed with water. This is
closer then the traditional method of pulping sticky rice with a paddle.
Rice flour can be picked up at many international markets.
For paper I
use washi, rice paper. It can be purchased from some art and craft stores
in rolls. It is also available online and comes in many different
shapes and sizes. You can also get paper with designs, while remaining
white. Silk screened washi is excellent for accenting larger pieces, most
I have seen come in 3X3 foot rolls. |
