I chose the this license to promote the use of the Creative Commons licenses, and to make it compatible with . Previously, I had a custom license (listed below) that mandated attribution, did not allow modifications, and did not allow commercial use. I've switched to a Share Alike clause in the new license. Also, in the latest modification, I've removed the restriction on commercial use, to make the works compatible with the WikiMedia Commons.
Up until December 27, 2003, the images found on this site were released under the following license. It is similar (but inferior) to the Creative Commons Attribution-NoDerivs-NonCommercial License. If you want to license your own work under terms similar to the ones below, you should use the Creative Commons license instead of adapting my agreement below.
All images released into the World Wibe Web by Richard Bullington-McGuire are the copyrighted property of Richard Bullington-McGuire. These images may may be freely redistributed electronically as long as these conditions are met:
- Such distribution is not-for-profit
- The works are not modified in any way
- Proper credit, attribution and contact information (my name, copyright notice, and electronic mail address) are included with the distribution. In the case of BBSs, FTP, or web sites redistributing the graphics, please have a README file called rlbjpegs.txt, and put a copy of these redistribution requirements in the file.
- Reproduction or redistribution of any sort in any non-electronic, non-online media is prohibited without my permission. If you want to use any of these images in a print document, I have larger versions of all of the images that are more suitable for publication.
- A separate, written agreement is required to redistribute any of these images in print or for any for-profit venture.
