I have no car
SO, there I was, feeling depressed about searching for a job when I get three calls in one day about setting up interviews. I do so. I feel good, as I now have a faint glimmer of hope.
Then I get up this morning at 7:00 to drive out to rural MAryland for an interview. WHen the lady in front of me comes to a screeching halt. I slam on the breaks, run into the back of her, she rolls forward, bumps the 19 year old kid in front of her, my airbag goes off, then I get hit by the guy behind me. The cops show up, take reports, we all fill out paperwork. Both my bumbers are smashed in, as are my head and tail lights, I'm leaking antifreeze on the road, and I'm in shock. My Jeep was definitely the worst damaged of the four cars involved, and three of them had to get towed. Mine, the guy behind me, whose front end was smashed in, and the lady in front of me, whose car was more or less ok, but she went to the hosital, just to make sure she was okay, so there was nobody to drive it.
I got a ride home in a police car.
I called Geico to report everything, they said it would probably be a total loss since the car is now more than 10 years old, but they'd gtet back to me. I the called my mother to let her know what had happened. THen I called my brother. THen I called Grandma, because I was gonna go over there after the interview, since I was out that way already, and my uncle Tommy and cousin Lindsay are in town after dropping John off at the Naval Academy in Annapolis. I just contacted the people at SCORE! to let them know why I didn't show up this morning.
So now, I have no car. But I'm okay (I think). I'm gonna make an appointment with my chiropractor, since I needed one anyway, but now my back and neck are probably more messed up than ever. Oh, and I'm still unemployed. But at least it was near home, instead of out in the middle of nowhere in Maryland, where I wouldn't have known what to do.
